Bathed in unique beauty, Martha's Vineyard attracts day-trippers, celebrity home owners, and urbanites seeking a restful getaway; its year-round residents include many artists, musicians and back-to-nature types.

For more than a century, prominent and wealthy Blacks from New York and Boston have transformed this once segregated town in Martha’s Vineyard into what is known today as the “Black Hamptons.”

Built by Black servants, Oak Bluffs is now a place to see and be seen, as the black elite, professionals and middle class come to enjoy the slower paced island life in a town that’s delightfully stuck in time. But ...they do know how to turn up!

"The Black Hamptons"

The Vineyard remains untouched by the kind of rampant commercialism found on the mainland – there's not a single chain restaurant or cookie-cutter motel in sight. Instead you'll find quaint inns, chef-driven restaurants and a bounty of green farms and grand beaches.

And there's something for every mood here – fine dining in gentrified Edgartown one day and savoring comfort food at Sarah Brown's and standing in line at Back Door Donuts  in Oak Bluffs the next.

Be prepared to be astonished as it is not uncommon to run into President Obama on “the island.” In 2018, some of our own members ran into O coming off Farm Neck Golf Course where he is known to frequent!

Grab your girls. Come on and go!
